Volunteer Teamwork
EcoCity World Summit
At the 2017 EcoCity World Summit I worked with a diverse team to ensure the smooth operation of the conference. There was much communication and problem solving to meet event timelines over the 3 days, featuring over 100 talks and workshops, a keynote presentation by Al Gore and managing 2000+ attendees from government, business and social sectors.

National Sustainable Living Festival
I have volunteered each year since 2017 at the National Sustainable Living Festival which transforms Birrarung Marr into a sustainability hotspot. This year I co-hosted the Off The Grid speech hub featuring talks from Michael Ablemen, Friends of the Earth, Beyond Zero Emissions, and many more exciting presenters. We gave Acknowledgment of Country, introduced speakers and assisted them to deliver inspirational messages... and of course run on time! In 2018 the festival received 100,000 visitors and our volunteer team was over 400 strong.
"Mark was an excellent team member... using his initiative to help make the guest speaker's presentations run smoothly."

"...his willingness to jump in and solve a problem, regardless of how small, showed a notable propensity for teamwork."

The Australian Open & Ausnviro
At the Australian Open I volunteered with Ausnviro to communicate sustainability initiatives to tournament spectators. In small teams we were able to use our communication, creativity and feedback skills to improve our message, each other’s performance and generate new ideas for the following year. Over one week our team educated 500+ people about sustainability at the Australian Open and had many great conversations.
"Mark was very good at helping other volunteers in creating innovative ideas..."

"He was very good at listening to other people’s ideas and working in a team as well as knowing when to step up as a leader in the team."
